Carmichael SawmillAs with our farm meat products, no raw materials are bought in from other producers and the Estate forestry squad fell the trees and cut the timber to customers order. A celcure treatment plant preserves the timber. Replacement trees are currently being planted at a rate of 15000 per year. The lands are landscaped in an historical manner that include forestry plantations known as ‘Bannockburn roundels’ - celebrating Carmichael influence in Scotland’s independence - and ‘union jack’ rectangles commemorating the 1707 union of Scotland and England in which the then Carmichael Chief held influence. The historical landscape incorporates a north-south eighteenth century axis and is preserved and yet productive to this day. Products include fencing panels, boards, rails, stobs, pegs, stakes, and are used externally for sheds, garages, shelves, etc. and internally for framing, flooring. sarking etc.. Competitive prices for delivery in southern Scotland between Edinburgh and Glasgow and Dumfries and Kelso are available from the Estate Office.
