Brian: First Week Day in Scotland

We did not have time to blog last night so we are doing it this (Tuesday) morning. Yesterday we went with Carmichael clan chief Richard and his wife Trish to check out some historic sites in the area. First, we visited the Bannockburn Heritage Centre where we learned about the famous Scottish victory over the British at Bannockburn. We saw the weapons and armor that was used on both sides. This was my favorite part of the day. Later, we went to Stirling Castle. It was amazing! After that, we climbed 246 steps to the top of the Wallace Monument. The girls stayed at the bottom because the climb up the hill to the monument itself wore them out. Carlie still had some blisters from our tour around the estate a few days ago, and she had already been to the top on earlier trips to Scotland, but the other girls had no excuse. Anyways, by the time we got back to the estate, Andy, Richard's son, had arrived. Andy and his sister Sarah arranged a scavenger hunt around the estate. It was girls vs. boys and it was a tie. We would have won, but apparently the rhododendron we picked was purple and not pink (there's a difference?).
